What are the maximum dimensions?

The average maximum width of a single pergola ranges from 4 m to 4.5 m*

The average maximum length of a single pergola ranges from 6 m to 7 m*

* Depends on the pergola manufacturer, model, and other limiting factors.

Multiple pergola models can be combined to create a larger covered area.

What pergola frame colors are available?

Each manufacturer has its own standard color palette. However, if the desired color is not in the standard palette, the pergola structure can be painted in any RAL color for an additional fee.

Can the pergola be the same color as wooden products in the house?

We offer pergolas in any color you need, though in some cases this may incur additional costs. If you want to match an existing color as closely as possible, ask the supplier of the wooden products for the powder coating code used. Please note that the base material, powder coating parameters, and variations between powder production batches can always result in slight color differences.

Does the pergola always need to be placed against a wall or can it be freestanding?

Aluminum roof pergolas can be freestanding, mounted against a wall or structure, or integrated into an existing structure or niche.

How is the pergola profile attached to the wall?

The type of wall mounting depends on factors such as:

  1. Wall
  2. Cladding
  3. Type of finishing material
  4. Pergola model

This is typically assessed on a case-by-case basis following a site inspection. In Latvia, threaded rods and chemical anchors or special wood screws are most commonly used.

What foundations is the pergola typically mounted on?

Each project is evaluated on a case-by-case basis, depending on the type of pergola, its integrations, and the installation location.

Typically, a concrete foundation or metal structure is used to anchor the pergola’s base, or existing wooden beam structures are specially reinforced.

Can the pergola be integrated into an existing roof without legs?

Yes, the pergola roof can be integrated into an existing structure, but a water drainage system must be provided.

What integrations are possible?

Depending on the model and manufacturer, pergolas can be equipped with a wide range of additions, such as louvers, sliding panels, sliding glass walls, fixed aluminum walls, glass slats, curtains, insect screens, LED lighting, speakers, heaters, and more.

Is it possible to upgrade the pergola gradually?

Yes, after the pergola’s basic structure is installed, it is possible to upgrade it gradually; you do not have to install a fully equipped pergola right away. However, it is advisable to plan potential upgrades in advance so that you can select the correct pergola model and dimensions to accommodate these additions. The

When is the best time to order a pergola?

best time to begin ordering a pergola depends on the situation, but it’s usually 2–3 months before the desired start date for using the pergola, as this is the optimal time to carefully evaluate everything, prepare, and carry out the installation work.

Additionally, it is important to note that pergola installation during the winter may take longer or, in the event of inclement weather, may need to be rescheduled.

Typically, the overall project timeline is calculated during the design phase, taking into account the specific details of the project.

What preparatory work do I need to do for my house before pergola installation?

Before installation, our specialists will consult with you and inform you about the necessary preparatory work. Usually, this includes:

  1. Selecting and agreeing on the type of footing installation
  2. The method of water drainage is agreed upon
  3. The necessary power supply must be provided
  4. The installation site must be cleared of all obstructions
  5. If the pergola is being installed against a wall, ensure the wall has sufficient load-bearing capacity to support the structure’s weight
  6. It is advisable to provide access to restroom facilities and water at the site

Can a pergola with aluminum slats be used in other seasons, not just summer?

This is certainly possible. The best way to do this is to equip the pergola with appropriate side extensions: blinds (Fixscreen), sliding panels (Loggia), or sliding glass walls. Lighting and heating elements are also options that will allow you to comfortably enjoy the benefits of the pergola year-round.

Do the roof slats obstruct too much transparency/light flow?

When you want to control the amount of light under the pergola, you can freely adjust the angle of the roof slats to your desired position. With the Camargue Skye, you can not only tilt the roof slats but also open them to one side.

Additionally, when the slats are closed and no light is coming through, you can use the integrated LED lighting.

What to do with blinds (Fixscreen) when it rains?

The fabric used in the Fixscreen is waterproof, so you can leave the blinds down even when it’s raining.

We recommend not raising the blinds when the fabric is damp, as this will prevent the fabric from drying properly, which may result in stains. If pollen, leaves, or other debris remains on the damp fabric, it may start to mold; therefore, we recommend keeping damp blinds lowered for a while before raising them to allow the fabric to dry.

Can roof slats be moved in freezing conditions?

If the awning slats are not fully closed, you can adjust them even in freezing temperatures. If the slats are fully closed, condensation between them may cause them to freeze shut. In this case, you should not adjust the awning slats. The

How much snow can the pergola roof withstand?

snow load capacity ranges from 80 to 200 kg/m², depending on the pergola’s size and model. This means that, on average, the pergola roof can withstand a layer of snow up to 10 cm thick. However, the weight of 10 cm of wet snow can reach as much as 500 to 600 kg/m², so the wetter the snow, the greater the load the pergola roof will be subjected to. Snow that has been there for some time begins to compact under its own weight and also becomes denser.

Can a grill be used under the pergola?

If you use a grill under the pergola, make sure the roof slats are not completely closed to ensure that the space under the roof is properly ventilated. Smoke from the grill can also leave residue on the slats, which means they’ll need to be cleaned afterward. Make sure that the grill or any open flames are always at least one meter away from the slats or other parts of the pergola. Otherwise, you may cause irreversible damage to the powder-coated finish or fabric.

How to clean the pergola?

Pergolas are intended for outdoor use and are designed to be weather-resistant—their frames are made of aluminum and coated with a powder-coated finish.

To extend the life of your pergola’s finish, you can use specialized products, such as the RENSON Maintenance Set. The products in this maintenance kit will ensure that the vibrant colors last for years and provide additional protection against acid rain, coastal salt environments, and UV rays.

Do you offer pergola maintenance and service?

Yes, we perform pergola maintenance and service work.

Is a building permit required for pergola installation?

Most often, no—but every property and situation is unique, depending on the type of construction project and the specific characteristics of the lot — encumbrances, location, the presence of buffer zones, and other factors—so we always recommend consulting with your local municipality on these matters.

Does a pergola increase the value of my house or property?

Of course, a pergola increases the value of a property, and its installation is often viewed as an investment.
